Kengo is delighted to be the implementing partner of the North Mara Local Business Development Program - the first of its kind in Tanzania that aims to deliver next level growth for local companies. The first of four intensive, business accelerator workshops took place from 10-13 November 2021 in Mwanza. The program holds a promising future for companies along the mining value chain that want to invest in their businesses by strengthening their compliance and organisation structures as well as improving the quality of their services. Pictured is the program cohort with companies ranging from logistics, general suppliers and community-based advocacy.
The SME sector is crucial to Tanzania's development. The contribution that small to medium sized companies make to the economy has been estimated to account for nearly 30% of the GDP. Strengthening local content is thus in the interest of all. Kengo is proud to play an important role in this vision. The North Mara Local Business Development Program saw its first series of workshops in Mwanza and through this initiative companies along the mining supply chain go through high impact business accelerator workshops conducted by our consultants. This will strengthen and empower these companies to take advantage of opportunities in the mining supply chain.
Kengo would like to express our gratitude to our partners, Barrick Gold Corporation, as well as our monitoring and evaluation partner, College of Business Education.
